A characterful five-piece nesting set in the Vyatka tradition, led by a tall mustachioed man in a black hat, yellow coat and blue trousers carrying a bird - an unusual and distinctive centrepiece. The remaining pieces depict members of his family - a girl holding a white rabbit, a child with a small animal, a girl with a sunflower, and a tiny final piece. Bold primary colours and lively folk character throughout.
A rare Vyatka family set led by a male figure - male matryoshkas are far less common than the traditional female form, making this a particularly notable find.
